Well, it's, yeah, it was something that, yes, it's strange, isn't it? Because it really is written as a letter to my daughter, but at the same time, as a writer, you always have that in your head that this needs to be something well done and well and kind of deep. You know, I knew that it was something that she had to be able to read as a grown-up and it had to be something really well-formed. And actually the form and everything just came to me from out of nowhere, if you like. It wasn't like I decided one day to write the book about the enunciation. It just seemed awful into place. I think you hit on something that's very important. |
