Hello, welcome to Scripture Central. This is John W. Welch. I refer to him as Jack in person, and I'm

Lynn Hilton Wilson. And I'm very happy to be here. What a pleasure and privilege it is to be

able to talk about the Book of Mormon and what it means for the world today. I mean, it is a

marvelous work and a wonder. It comes from Isaiah chapter 29.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

But people don't realize that that word marvel and wonder,

it's the same word in Hebrew, so it's a double miracle,

a miraculous work and a miracle.

So marvelous is miraculous and wonder is a miracle.

So it's a miracle of a miracles.

Yeah. I love it. A miracle squared. Yeah. And squared is perfected. Yeah. Oh, that's great.

And it lives up to that in every way. Well, and today we get to start with the title page,

introduction, eight witnesses, a little bit of joe smith history

jack has written a terrific commentary and we have a shorter version and a longer version all on

scripture central but i am really eager to encourage um not just a brief overview of those but but to give some real meat, I just feel like

there is so much research done on this.

Would you mind if we started with a little history background?

I'm fascinated with the timing of the whole Book of Mormon.

You know, Maroni comes first on September 21st and 1823.

And of course, Joseph is a young teenager at the time.

He's not prepared emotionally or spiritually.
