Welcome to Wheels Off.

This is what they call in the business an intro episode,

wherein I explain to you what's going to happen through the course of this thing called

Wheels Off. First of all, the name comes from an expression that my friends and I have to

reference when things get out of control, when things feel like you no longer have any say

over where you're headed. And that to me feels like sort of an approximation or an explanation

of the creative life. When you are careening along, you're kind of at the whim of fate, and you are

following your instincts and seeing where they lead you. So wheels off is both a bad thing and a good

thing. You have to let go and just see where the wind blows you, But also, usually that is a pretty good way to find

something that you had never expected, something creative and something cool. So Wheels Off

is the name of these conversations that I'm having, and that's what they are. These are roughly

25, 35, 35, 40-minute conversations,

very philosophical in nature. They're kind of about the creative process, the creative life.

I want to discuss with my guests, the obstacles that get in the way of the creative life,

the creative process. I want to discuss with them how they got here,

sort of the moment they realized that this is what they were meant to do
