Right now, I'm going to welcome into the show, Vanessa de Jesus, a guard from the Notre Dame women's basketball team.

We are happy to be joined by Vanessa de Jesus from the Notre Dame women's basketball team.

She's in her sixth year of college basketball after transferring to Notre Dame from Duke.

Let me just let me ask you this, Vanessa. I'm sure you probably don't like follow what's going on

with the football transfer portal, but it just opened a few days ago. And it's a little bit crazy

right now. So I'm curious as someone who just went through transfer portal process yourself obviously in a

different sport but you went through the portal like what what was that whole thing like for you going

through that yeah definitely for me it was a lot um kind of reminded me how it wasn't you know in high school

but now there's so many other aspects that i didn't have to deal with as an incoming high schooler.

Like there's NIL now and just a bunch of, you know, open so many different opportunities.

And just for me, a lot of it was taking my time and not letting myself feel rushed or like, again,

remembering like what my goals and like what I really wanted in a program.

So I think having that core like group was really important for me,

like having my family and people in my corner who I could talk to

and kind of guide me in this big decision because it was my last year.

So for me, just taking my time and like praying about it was like big

because it can be a lot, very overwhelming.

Is it kind of cool to be like re-recruited all over again?

Yeah, it was fun talking to coaches and, you know, seeing who wants you and kind of hearing

what other programs do because, you know, that's for a very long time.

So it was a really cool experience in that sense of it, even though it can be a lot.

How long did it take until you heard from the first school, like once your name went in the portal?
