1:06.3	away with the title nine question when you're with your students and you're talking about its importance,
1:15.9	what's your headline? What do you start with? Well, amazingly, most of the students are not
1:23.7	familiar with the history of discrimination in sports.
1:28.4	And I usually begin with, did you know, that in 1972, women were not accepted at Princeton
1:35.2	University.
1:37.0	And beyond that, we go into the whole history of discrimination in sports.
1:43.5	But originally, Title IX was passed as part of the education amendments of 1972,
1:50.0	and it was intended to rectify a whole slate of overt discriminations against women and girls in high schools and colleges.
1:58.9	So there was bias against women entering law school, med school, grad school.
