0:09.7	Welcome to Burn It All Down, the feminist sports podcast you need. Jessica here. I'm joined today by Amira. We're both here for this interview because we're talking to the goalkeeper for our local MLLS team, Austin FC, Mr. Brad Stover, and neither one of us wanted to miss out.

0:29.7	So we wanted to get Brad on here because of his advocacy for trans youth and Texas, which is
0:34.7	obviously a very important thing for us on this podcast.
0:37.8	And we're going to absolutely get to that.
0:40.0	But I'd like to start with your beginnings in soccer.
0:43.9	How did you get into the sport?
0:45.5	Like, what is your origin story?
0:48.0	So my brother was actually the first person in our family to play soccer.
0:54.1	My family grew up in a very rural area of Pennsylvania, and it was baseball, football, basketball.
1:04.0	So my dad was in the army and kind of moved around a lot, like stationed in Germany, stationed in Georgia, and then settled in Cleveland,
1:13.6	Ohio. And my brother was the first one to play soccer. And me being the younger brother, I of course
1:20.4	needed to do everything that he did. So I followed in his footsteps footsteps and I played soccer like him.
1:28.7	And the only time I ever got to play with him and his friends is if I was in goal.
1:33.9	So that's kind of where I started being the goalkeeper just because that was the only time I got to play with my older brother and his friends.
1:41.2	So I was about to ask you if you naturally chose goalie because
1:45.5	goalie's terrible. I was a striker. I want nothing to do with the back out of the pitch.
1:51.5	Typical striker mentality. Right. One time they like punished us by making us play defense and it was
1:57.3	not a pretty sight. That's a punishment for a forward. I love that.
