information would put minority groups at higher risk of being racially profiled,

heightening tensions between law enforcement and black and Hispanic communities.

The Tennessee Black Caucus said in a statement, quote,

the information could actually have a chilling effect that keeps those already distrustful of the government

from taking the COVID-19 test and possibly accelerate the spread of the disease, end quote.

The process is within the bounds of medical privacy laws, so claims the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a review by the Associated Press of Info given to states, show that at least 35 states out of 50 share the addresses of those who have tested positive.
