All right, well, welcome everyone. My name's Robert Smith. I'm the Vice President for speakers of the St. Thomas More Society.

And on behalf of the Society, we'd like to thank the Thomistic Institute and academic institute through the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.

And we are very happy today to have a wonderful speaker with us

to be talking about international human rights

and Catholic social teaching.

Paolo Kroza is the director of the Calais Institute

for International Studies, an interdisciplinary university-wide institute

focusing primarily on the themes of democracy and human development

at the Notre Dame Law School.

From 2006 to 2010, Croatsa was a member of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights,

the principal international body responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights in the

Western Hemisphere and served as its president in 2008 and 2009.

He has also served the Holy See in various capacities and was appointed by Pope Francis in 2016

to be member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

He received both his bachelor's degree and his law degree from Harvard.
