The Federal Reserve has kept interest rate steady for a fifth straight time. The central bank

left its benchmark lending rate at a range of 4.25% to 4.5%, where it's been since December.

Fed officials want to wait a little while longer for additional data to see how the U.S. economy is faring during President Donald Trump's trade war, but they're facing repeated attacks from the White House.

Trump has been pressing hard for the Fed to cut rates, arguing that his tariff policy won't push up inflation.

Now to an update on tsunami warnings in the U.S. with CNN's Mary Gilbert.

Yeah, Afoma, the tsunami situation for the U.S. is shifting as we get farther out in time

from the initial Russian earthquake that set it off.

Part of Northern California's coast was under a tsunami warning for much of Wednesday morning,

but now that's been downgraded to a tsunami advisory, which is just below the highest level

of alert.

Tsunami advisories are still in effect for parts of California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska,

and Hawaii, which shows that the tsunami threat is lowering but not yet ending for the U.S.

Smaller tsunami waves are still possible throughout the day, with officials urging people to avoid venturing into or near the Pacific Ocean.

Crescent City officials said the Northern California beach community that experienced the highest tsunami

waves on the West Coast hasn't seen damage so far, but the National Weather Service says

it's, quote, not out of the woods.

It says waves are still, quote, pretty stubbornly persistent, and that people should stay away

from beaches all day today and be extra cautious.

Outgoing flights from UK airports were disrupted by air traffic control problems today.

That's according to multiple airports.

At one point, monitoring site Flight Radar 24 showed no flights departing.
