Our culture is always catechizing us, always trying to teach us how to think by teaching us how to speak about certain subjects. Human sexuality is one of the subjects that the culture

strives hardest to catacize us, even Christians,

on. And the words, the terms that it use are often foreign to Scripture's way of talking

about human sexuality. Welcome back to Issues, Et cetera. I'm Todd Wilkin. It's time for part

three of our series on intercessory prayer in a post-Christian culture. Dr. Leonard Peyton joins us.

He's pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Forest Park, Illinois, author of the issues et cetera,

Thank you. In recent decades and especially since the Supreme Court's Obergefell decision,

many scholars have tried to furnish a biblical justification for same-sex relationships.

How are we to work through that?

So I think what we see often happening is, let's say I have a close relative or a friend who lives a life of torment

struggling with this particular attraction, this same-sex attraction.

And wouldn't it be nice if I could find a justification in the Holy Scriptures

for them exercising that attraction? There's a lot of force behind those kinds of relationships.

And so in recent years, we've found a lot of scholars going back through the

scriptures and in particular looking at the lightning rod passages that deal with same-sex

activity of any sort. And there's a small handful of them.

They'll often point that out.
