Big news on a playoff Sunday for the New England Patriots.

They haven't taken part in a playoff game in a few years,

but we do have news and that it is that Mike Vrable will be the next Patriots head coach,

less than one week after Gerard Mayo was relieved of duties after the win against the Buffalo Bills

at the end of a four and 13th season, Brable will be the successor.

Vrable and Mayo, ironically, incidentally, whichever adverb you'd like,

were actually together on the Patriots in 2008 when Vrable was in his final year with the Patriots,

and Mayo was a first round pick, 10th overall by the Patriots, both played linebacker together.

So in a way, Mayo succeeded Vrable.

Vrable now succeeding Mayo.

The initial question will be, is this the best thing for the New England Patriots?

They were challenged offensively a bit.

Certainly on defense they were.

But you look at the most important aspect of this team, and it's Drake May.

How will Mike Vrable make Drake May better?

Why is he a better fit, Vrable than, say, for instance, Ben Johnson.

And to me, it comes down to this.

The Patriots, if they were a patient, would have myriad illnesses and serious conditions presenting.

Among them is offensive football.

Among them is offensive line.
