Hi, I'm Imran Ahmed, and I'm pleased to share with you the Inside Fashion series,

where I interview leading fashion designers from the fashion world.

In this next interview, I will be speaking with the Japanese legend,

Yoji Yamamoto, about his fashion philosophy.

Now, Yoji is one of those designers who is unlike any other in the fashion world,

and so interviewing him was a real honor. Now, I was a little bit nervous speaking to

Yoji because he's such a living legend, but he made me feel completely at ease, and several

times during the interview, he lit up a cigarette and stayed silent and reflected

and really thought about my questions.

It was unlike any interview I've ever conducted.

But it was worth it because I learned so much from his stories and his experiences.

Mr. Yamamoto, thank you for taking the time to sit down with me.

It's a very interesting moment in the fashion world at the moment, and I think there's lots to discuss.

But I wanted to start a little bit earlier in your career actually and learn a little bit

about your decision or the idea of becoming a designer.

How did you first become a fashion designer?

And why was this the kind of metier that you chose?

I was born as the only son of war widow.

And then, when I became five, six years old, my mother gave up that her husband don't come back.
