This year has been impossible.

I know it sounds like hyperbole, but come on guys.

Doesn't it just feel that way?

Tens of thousands of innocent people dead on all sides.

Israeli reserve soldiers off to war.

The Israeli people are at each other's necks over fights about the Haridim and the draft, or lack thereof.

Anti-Semitism, the straight-end universities all over the world,

debates about what constitutes anti-Semitism, debates in the Knesset about the very

nature of the Jewish state, it can just feel so, so tiring.

But here's what I keep thinking about.

It could have been worse.

It was supposed to be worse.

It might sound crazy, but I think it's true.

This war with Hamas has been awful.

It's hard to remember now, but what everyone said for

the first few months after the 7th of October was this, this is nothing. Wait till the war with

Hezbollah. Remember that? Hamas was never supposed to be the issue. The war with Hamas, every expert

said was going to be small potatoes compared to what was going to go down in Lebanon against the bigger,

badder enemy, Hezbollah, Hamas is more sinister and better equipped older brother also funded

by Iran. So what happened to this so-called bigger, batter enemy? Neutralized by three incredible

events over the course of a few weeks in September of 2024. On September 20th, Israeli forces

targeted and killed Ibrahim Akeel, the commander of Hezbollah's elite Rod 1 forces in a Beirut suburb.
