Man, Minneapolis is actually so beautiful in the summer.

It's been like 80 degrees every day.

There's lakes everywhere that you can walk around and kayaking.

I wouldn't really know anything about that firsthand because I've spent every day

to the past week inside of the Target Center watching the trials. So this is kind of the only

time I've actually been outdoors.

My plane leaves in about 30 minutes.

Oh, there's another one overhead. You can probably hear it.

But man, this time outside now is really nice on the airport sidewalk.

I've been covering gymnastics for a few years now, but most of my work was done at the height of the pandemic.

So until last week, I'd never actually been to a competition before.

Recently, an opportunity came up to go... been to a competition before.

So my first time reporting on the sport in real life was at the event that decides who gets to go to the Olympics.

Today we're bringing you something a little different from our usual episodes.

It's a collection of little moments of observations and scenes and quotes from the week I spent in Minneapolis at the Olympic trials.

In Hotel Bars with Hall of Famer's, in the Mix Zone with returning champions,

in closed training days with Olympic Hopefuls, and in the stands with their friends and family.

Through all these different conversations there was a clear single theme

that emerged. Health. Just about everything seemed to come back to either the physical injuries or mental stressors that gymnast are at risk for,

and the ways in which they might be changing.
