Summary

Have you "bought" into the idea of self-lack?

We've all been conditioned, taught, or shown by others (consciously or unconsciously) to believe that we're lacking in some way.

This can affect how we see ourselves, our self-perception, and what we believe we're capable of doing, having, and being now.

Self-lack refers to the belief or idea that we're somehow not (good) enough, deficient, flawed, or missing something important within ourselves.

BUT, at the end of the day... self-lack is just that: an idea. Nothing more.

In this episode of INNER WORK, we'll talk about how to begin dismantling and letting go of this false idea - or illusion - of self-lack, so you can show up as your Whole, Authentic, Full Self in this lifetime.

I hope something here is useful for you today!

So today we're talking about shattering the idea of self-lack.

1:08.6

And let's start here.

1:10.6

We've all been conditioned to some extent or taught or shown by others'

1:18.1

example, by other people's behavior, unconsciously, consciously, we've all been conditioned,

1:26.3

taught or shown to believe that we are lacking in some

1:31.0

way, sometimes really in a fundamental way. This is kind of an inevitable part of being human and

1:40.7

interacting with other humans. So when we use the word self-lack in this episode,

1:48.7

we are referring to the false belief or idea that our self is lacking something,

1:56.8

lacking in some way,

1:59.2

that we ourselves lack something important, that we are somehow incomplete,

2:04.9

that something in us is missing or deficient, or basically not good enough, or just not enough

2:14.2

altogether. So I think we all have some core wounds around this idea of self-lack,

2:21.2

whether we're aware of them consciously or not. Of course, if you are aware of these wounds,
