By September 2016, the self-proclaimed crusaders were getting ready to execute their terrorist attack against Garden City's Muslim Republic.

Dan Day noticed the tone of their meetings had changed throughout the summer months.

Patrick Stein, Gavin Wright, and Curtis Allen weren't just swapping Islamophobic slurs anymore.

They were planning an attack.

They had a target, the West Mary Street apartments.

They had a date, November 9, the day after the presidential election.

And now, it was time to focus their attention on perhaps the most important detail, the method of attack.

Little did they know, the FBI agents had been tracking their movements through Dan, their informant.

There were multiple things that were discussed after they had chosen that particular address.

They talked about car bombs.

They were going to go door to door kicking.

Directional blast with a trash can.

She didn't want a 22, which is real silent.

Pumping gas into the apartment complex.

And rig these old apartments up and burn them all down. They could look like an accident.

They eventually decided that a bomb was the easiest and most effective way to inflict maximum damage at 312 West Mary Street.

Specifically, an improvised explosive device, or IED.

Stein probably was the first one to come up with it, but everybody else jumped on it.
