Indiana Capital Chronicle has this article about a bunch of library people who are whining about how they're going to make due with the quote unquote cuts that are coming from this new property tax bill. So let's just do a brief reset for everybody on sort of how we got here and what's going on because we have new people

coming in all the time. All right. So from basically 2020 till present day, we have seen an

explosion in revenue going to local governments. By local governments, for most people with

it makes up the following things. Your school, your city or town, your township, the county,

the public library, and if you have a fire territory, those are the six things when you pay

property taxes. Now, many cities, like the fire department is part of the city tax, but some have fire churches.

So the five or six things you're going to pay for.

And from 2020 through present day, you've seen an explosion of revenue to each of these government entities,

because they all get a little portion of this pie, because of the

assessment disaster in which because the government shut down society, then printed a bunch of money,

people said, I've got to have somewhere for this money to go, and it's so cheap that I'll just

put it into housing, which skyrocketed the price of houses here in

central Indiana. And because taxation is done off of assessment, well, all the government

entities got all this extra money. And instead of doing the right thing or the decent thing

of saying, hey, you know what, we ought to anticipate this not lasting

forever. Why don't we take a few of these shekels and put it in a bank account somewhere and

hope for our citizens? This is the thing that makes me the most angry. The government roots against

the people. The government, all these local government entities root for you to get screwed.

They root for as much of your money to be taken from you as humanly possible.

Because if they had any decency about themselves whatsoever, they would have said,
