India, you will recall, has been at odds with Pakistan for as long as Pakistan's

existed as a state.

However, during the worst of the Afghanistan fighting in the early part of this century,

India had a difficult to define position towards the Taliban.

It was keen on something called

countering Pakistan's defense in depth, which it was an explanation for why Pakistan tolerated the Taliban, because it is such a short distance from India all the way through Islamabad and

Ravel Pindi, the centers of government and military in Pakistan.

But now India's had a change of direction. The parties that

had been overwhelmed by Norengramodie's B.J. P. these last 10 years are now with a voice in the legislature and

the Renra Modi is no longer completely the master of India.

Mr Ambassador you've written an article for the Hill, India's voters want Modi to change,

in what direction?

I think that Prime Minister Modi, of course, has been re-elected to office but with a

reduced majority and his party the Paratia-Jamaata party did not even get the

simple majority.

Now this is the first time Modi will be in coalition.
