Politics, a little bit of royal, hopefully some mystery out. We may look at calls from the Church of England for its members to repent for their role.

Funny story that, funny peculiar, not funny ha-ha, obviously,

because I suspect that some people drawn to that tale would normally be very opposed to the idea of atoning or apologising

I want to begin today with the politics, with the general election,

the astonishingly uninspiring general election that is underway at the moment.

Rarely can I remember so many being so unenthused by so much. And I guess that's democratically dangerous.

But so is a realization that I stumbled across this morning. And it is a really weird thing. I'm

really sorry if you've already clocked this,

and I'm sitting here on the wireless patting myself on the back for my uncommon perspicacity,

when in fact you've been wanging on about exactly the same subject for the last month.

But something has been niggling me, and I haven't been quite able to pinpoint precisely what it is. And it is this. I suddenly

realized listening to Pretty Patel give an appalling interview earlier today or late yesterday. It's,

you know, it's bad being thick and it's bad being callous, but being callous and thick is really, really,

really bad. And the argument seemed to be that the government isn't really responsible for anything.

And albeit that that takes the observation that I stumbled across to its, possibly its logical conclusion,

you get into the foothills of that thinking, and suddenly

the thing that's been confusing me and bothering me about this election moves into the spotlight.
