I've never heard of the show America's most wanted.

The original show was hosted by John Walsh and launched in 1988 until it was canceled

in 2011.

And it was the longest running TV show on Fox, even surpassing the Simpsons.

The show did reenactments of dangerous fugitives using actors.

They encouraged viewers to call this phone number.

They had tips on certain cases that they were covering.

And by 2008, the series actually helped capture 1,000 fugitives around the world.

What a lot of millennials and definitely Gen Z don't know, I'm sure, is that the host

of America's most wanted John Walsh was the parent of a missing child.

Actually, it was one of the first big missing child cases in the country that everyone

was talking about.

And it sparked the entire stranger danger movement, if you remember that.

In July 27, 1981, 6 year old Adam Walsh was at Sears with his mom in Hollywood, Florida.

His mom went to ask someone a question and let Adam play video games at an Atari display

with several other boys who were taking turns playing.

Then another employee told Adam's mom that the boys had started fighting over the game.

So he asked them to leave the store after asking if they had a parent with them, to which

they said they didn't.

Unfortunately, Adam was too shy to speak up.

Adam's mom called the police after about 90 minutes of searching for him.

A few days later, his head was found in a drainage canal.
