gardening? Has it always played a part, a role in your life? The answer to that is yes. As far as I can

remember, indeed I can remember in my father's garden

when I was about four, I had a little patch that was all my own. And I started growing things there.

So it's a love affair that goes back a very long way.

And obviously influenced by your father. Was he a keen gardener too then?

My father and my stepmother both made wonderful gardens and I loved them. I responded to them.
