Hello and welcome to POD Save the Queen.

0:06.0

I'm joined by Inspector Ken Wharf to talk about his new book, Diana, Remembering the Princess.

0:16.7

So hi Ken, how are you? Welcome to the show.

0:19.1

Good morning.

0:20.1

It's great actually to be to refer to as an inspector 20 odd years since I left the police but I don't mind that

0:25.2

That's fine. It's a great title. I would be using that every opportunity given.

0:30.1

Well you could say well the inspector calls you never know.

0:33.8

So talk to me so Diana remembering the princess is out now and the kind of the

0:40.8

description of it is explores the legacy of Diana her influence on the monarchy

1:11.0

yeah well the book came about I can't claim total responsibility for this because, you know, I wrote it with a very good friend of mine Diana Foundation in 2002. 1:27.8

a side of Diana's life that I actually didn't have.

1:30.5

So what I think is good at, well, what I like about the book is that there are two of us writing 12 chapters, 13 chapters to commemorate the 25th anniversary. And we're both coming from two different directions but both of us reflecting

1:46.4

upon you know Diana's short life and here we are now 25 years on and you know Diana is still being you know talked about notably by

1:57.1

her two sons but you know who would have thought that 25 years on we would still

2:01.8

be remembering Diana and talking about that's

2:05.0

quite unusual because I don't recall Diana and talking about her.

2:06.0

And that's quite unusual because I don't recall

2:10.0

that memory talking about other members of all family so long after their death.
