This is going to be a two-parter, and today we're talking about behavior in the classroom. So welcome, Audrey Chancini. How are you today? I'm good. Thank you for having me.

Excellent. I'm going to introduce you really quick. Audrey is a teacher with 15 years experience

working in both public and private schools. She has an undergraduate degree in elementary education

is a national board certified teacher and holds a master's in special

education. She specializes in working with students with disabilities and currently teaches

small groups of students reading and writing in written language. Very good. I'm so excited

for this conversation because you are just as fired up as I am about this topic.

So that's why we're going to make this a part one and part two.

So let's dive into behavior because what we see in the classroom, we're going to hear

this avoidance or challenging behavior. And on the surface, it looks like disruption. It looks

like they're just giving us a hard time or they don't feel like doing what we're asking. But really,

that's just the service. That is not the reason why it's happening. You're right. So you believe

there's underlying reasons for that. And you have to dig to figure that out. And really,

the way that you do that is by building the relationship.

The biggest thing is building relationships with kids from the beginning.

And one strategy that I do is super simple.

It seems like it takes up a lot of time.

But in the long run, it pays off.
