last night that they got a hold of the manuscript of his forthcoming book where he alleges that President Trump explicitly linked security assistance to Ukraine with an investigation into the Bidens.

He's a CNN politics congressional reporter. He's up at the Capitol as we speak just out of the Senate chamber. Alex, thanks for joining us.

David, thanks for having me. So my first question for you is about this Bolton bombshell. It seems like Mitt Romney feels there's a need perhaps to hear from John Bolton as a witness.

Now, he was kind of already leaning in that direction.

But how much, as you know, we've been looking at this constant political calculus.

Are there for Republicans to join with Democrats to bring witnesses into this impeachment process.

Did the Bolton News change that calculus up there with the Senate Republican Conference?

We don't know yet, but as you're saying, there are four Senate Republicans that Democrats need to be able to subpoena new witnesses.

And so far, it looks like the Republicans are trying to keep their rings together, but we're going to find out later

after the lunch today what exactly will happen. I talked to Senator Roy Blunt, a member of the

geography leadership today about whether he would vote to subpoena Bolden as a witness. And he goes,

oh, I doubt it.

And his point was that it's the House's job to put a case together.

It's then our job to deal with that in a prompt manner.
