ICE says nearly 1,000 people were arrested in the US yesterday, after the Trump administration

launched an immigration enforcement blitz across the country.

A lot of the arrests were made in Chicago, where White House border czar Tom Homan oversaw the operations, and he spoke to ABC

about the plans.

If you're in the country illegally, you're on the table.

Homan claims enforcement is targeting public safety and national security threats,

but Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker disputes that.

They're going after people who are law-abiding, who are holding down jobs, who have families

here, who may have been here for a decade or two decades.

A local nonprofit says the crackdown has led some migrants in Chicago to avoid going to school

or work out of fear.

This man in Arkansas told CNN affiliate,-HBS that his father and uncle

were detained last week on their way to work as landscapers.

They try to get the best job they can do and that's, you know, that's what pays the bills.

It's the worst thing that could happen. The operation is expected to continue this week,

as the administration tries to follow
