| 0:07.0 | The Welcome back to Nomad Podcast. I'm Tim Nash and this is my beloved co-host Anna Robinson. |
| 0:42.8 | Hello everybody. Anna, how's your back? |
| 0:47.0 | Wild Tim. My back, as you know, went, as it were. Is that what we call it? When a back goes? |
| 0:53.3 | Yeah. When did that happen? It's been a little bit twingy about five years ago. I put my back out really badly. And ever since, every now and then it can give me some trouble. |
| 1:03.3 | Yeah, I've been there. I thought it's out the woods. And then I obviously thought it's out of the woods because I was carrying a surfboard with the intent to surf. And I crouched down in the |
| 1:11.8 | right way, you know, like properly like not bending over. And then I just put the board down and |
| 1:16.7 | lent slightly and it just went, it went to spasm. And I was on the beach. Fortunately, it was |
| 1:23.3 | that amazing weather we were having. So it was sunny and everything. And I was with a really good |
| 1:26.5 | friend who happened to be a masseuse. So she helped me get to the ground. And then I lay there in the hot sun for ages. And then she did a little massage. And thankfully I was able to get up and drive home. But then the next day, it was really, five hours later, I still couldn't get off the floor because it kept going into really, really, really painful spasm. |
| 1:49.6 | So that wasn't fun. See, that's why we need a masseuse as like a constant companion through life. |
| 1:55.7 | I know. Isn't that weird that I happen to be, you know, it's my back has never gone into spasm like that out of the house. It's always happened doing something really minor in the house. The last three |
| 2:06.2 | times it's happened at home, thank goodness. And there was a moment of panic in me thinking, |
| 2:12.1 | I'm in a public space. I'm here for the next five days. Yeah, because before, so I can't get off the floor, |
| 2:18.3 | but she kept me really calm and it was all right. And I thought, I'd be all right. But then |
| 2:22.2 | the next day, as I say, I thought, oh, this is feeling a bit sore after the night. So I, |
| 2:26.6 | I lay on the floor thinking that was the right thing I did eventually get up. And the end of the story, which is a positive end, is that a friend of mine who knew my back had gone into spasm and is a acupunctress |
| 2:39.6 | said, listen, if you can get to me, I've got a slot, come in and I can help sort your back out. |
| 2:44.7 | So I spent the next three hours trying to get off the floor. Literally, I'd try, go back down, wait another half an hour, |
| 2:51.1 | take some more pills, try, get back down. Eventually got up, went to her. And you know what? |
| 2:55.6 | It's extraordinary. I've never had acupuncture before like that. When I finished a treatment, |
| 2:59.9 | I just walked away. Wow. I just walked off and I have not had a twin since. But acupuncture is well dodgy Anna. Yeah, exactly. I mean, goodness, that is, I mean, I've wanted to do acupuncture for a long time. So it's not, it's something that, but you know, it's difficult. I don't know, my self-care, I don't know how other people find. Or it's sort of slightly gets the bottom of the list. I think, oh, it's fine. It's not bad enough. I have to be lying on the floor in extreme pain before I'll actually do anything to sort of take care of myself. But I'm changing that now. |
