0:50.6	continue in John chapter 15. We're looking at verse number 18. And remember
0:57.2	Jesus is speaking to his disciples prior to himself being betrayed and led to the cross.
1:05.0	He's equipping them for what is to come.
1:09.0	And this statement that we're going to read today
1:12.0	is especially true in that vein.
1:15.0	This is a statement of equipping.
1:16.6	This is a statement of Jesus trying to get his disciples,
1:20.7	to get their minds around some of the things that are about to take place.
1:26.7	He says in verse 18, if the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
1:35.0	If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own.
1:40.0	But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world.
1:45.0	Therefore, the world hates you.
1:48.0	Okay, now this is a very jarring statement because it uses a very strong word that word hate.
1:57.0	None of us in our normal wiring want people to hate us.
