Carrie Fukanaga and Idris Elba, the two men most responsible for Netflix's first original narrative film, Beast of No Nation.

Carrie adapted a book into the script, directed it, and even served a cinematographer.

Idris was a producer and one of the stars in a role supporting a first time actor from Ghana where the film was shot and this film has been stirring up buzz since its unveiling over Labor Day weekend at both the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals.

It then became a day-and-date release released in theaters by Bleaker Street and then at the same time

on Netflix.

So it's gotten a lot of exposure, didn't do great in

theaters, but has found a huge following on Netflix and has received tons of

endorsements both on Twitter and social media like that, but also in the form of

events that have been hosted by everyone from Jake Jillinhall to Sally Field

in support of the film. It also recently landed a field leading five nominations at the Independent

Spirit Awards, including one for Elba in the Sporting Actor category and three for

Fukanaga in the cinematographer, director, and Best Feature
