So I've got some good news. They found the uranium.

I don't know if you were listening at the top of yesterday's show.

I found myself deeply discombobulated by the news bulletin in which it was revealed that two and a half tons of uranium had gone missing from a facility in Libya,

which, as you know, sounds not unlike the beginning of various films.

So everyone can relax. They found it.

I don't know where it was, actually.

Perhaps I shall find out, but they found it.

I wonder if we need to begin with an apology.

I don't think so.

I think I've made up for it subsequently.

But I did spend a couple of years, maybe more,

responding to people who claimed that the

stop and search of young black men in London was disproportionate but reasonably so, that it was

somehow justified because certain types of crime are more likely to be committed by certain

types of people, as it is one of the things that I used to hear.

But my rationale on that was always if it is done fairly or if it is, you know, if it is done reasonably. And I think you disabused me of that notion pretty quickly. I think just stories.

Do you remember, I go on about this a bit, but it really

was a moment during our time together. One of those moments where everything changed. Because when I

started doing this job, I obviously trod in the footsteps of people who'd gone before. And it is

traditionally a fairly angry right-wing medium, isn't it, the radio
