And this is Catherine Tordorici, who is the first storyteller in our Mountain Brook community, which is near and dear to us because it's right next to us in Bestavia. You've actually probably heard many Mountain Brook storytellers. They've just shared at Bestavia Live Live gatherings, and this was their very first Mountain Brook gathering. Well, you know, most of us know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And so Catherine's story is really the perfect one because it is a story of breast cancer. But it's also a story of how God prepares you for the trials of life. And he alone is the one that knows what's coming, so he'll prepare you for it. I have to tell you guys, y'all were able to be there at the recording. I was not there, but you could hear the birds in the background because y'all recorded outside. And as I listened to her story, it just made me think of Matthew chapter 6, verse 26, where it talks about the Lord will take care of the birds, so he will take care of you. |
| 1:46.5 | And that's really kind of the theme of her story as well. And so it's just something sweet for you to listen to as you hear Catherine's story. |
| 1:53.2 | Y'all know breast cancer's near and dear to my heart. So I appreciate the fact that Catherine was willing to share her story with us. And also on Patreon, we do have |
| 2:01.7 | Lauren Beckner, who shared her story of breast cancer, episode 109, who shared in Vestavia. |
| 2:08.2 | And actually, Amy Grody, our Patreon manager, is doing a where are they now with Lauren on Patreon. |
| 2:14.3 | So join us over on Patreon. We would love to have you. And you can simply scroll down in the show notes and click the link and join us over on Patreon. I know I can't wait to hear what all has been happening in Lauren's life as well. And you know, Lindy, I can't wait to hear you share your wisdom at the end of the story because you have walked through breast cancer as well. So I appreciate you being in on the discussion. |
| 2:34.4 | So you want to stay tuned for that. So here's Catherine's story. |
| 2:39.5 | Well, my name is Catherine, Torderisi, and I grew up right here in Mountain Brook. I lived on |
| 2:45.0 | Main Street and Crestline. I thought that was the coolest name for a street. And then when we moved and when I was in the fourth grade to a little street called Shannon Lane, which I thought one day I'm going to have a daughter named Shannon Lane. I just thought that was the prettiest name. And I thought that street was even cooler because they had little bridges. You had to drive across the bridge to get to your house. So I love growing up here. Raise my children here in Mountain Brook. |
| 3:09.0 | My husband and I met in the math hall at Mountain Brook High School. So we were high school |
