Well, hey you guys. This is Heidi St. John. I hope you're having a great day wherever this podcast

0:04.9

finds you. This is the off the bench podcast. And I like to touch on the topic of education again

0:11.6

here today because of some things that have happened in the last several days. And also in

0:15.6

response to some moms, leaving comments on Instagram about the condition of the public schools.

0:22.0

Stick around. I think you're going to be encouraged.

Well, you guys know me. I'm no fan of the public school system. And it's it's not something that I

0:38.0

try to hide. Our daughter, Savannah, was in the public schools. And in fact, I gave it the old

0:44.0

college try. I put our daughter in a public school and I pulled her out in second grade. And the reason

1:24.8

with no hope of reprieve when a little yellow school bus comment, take them away for free. I just

1:30.6

I couldn't conceive of it. And I didn't understand why education was such a big deal. It was the

1:37.8

Lord that got a hold of my heart. It was God that showed me that the responsibility for educating

1:43.0

my children rests primarily with me and my husband. And it was the public schools that showed me

1:49.3

that public schools are no place for kids these days. And I've been very outspoken about this.

1:56.2

And many of you I think have seen me sort of go through this metamorphosis, I guess,

2:02.7

is the only way that I can think of to describe it because out on the speaker circuit, you know,

2:07.3

15, 20 years ago, I was very ambivalent about the importance of education. We had chosen
