Hello and welcome to I don't speak German the podcast in which I Jack Graham talk to my friend Daniel Harper about what he learned after more than two years of listening to the far right to the old right the white supremacist the Nazis talk to each other in their online safe spaces

their YouTube videos their podcasts etc conversations about the far

rights conversations you could say hi Daniel you doing? I'm doing well I don't think I

listen to any Nazis today it's pretty it's it's it's it's it's it's it's just what

real life is like? I believe so yeah I hear this yeah we do I mean it's not exactly catch up but we there was something about last week show that you wanted to highlight wasn't

yeah I know.

One thing that I put in the show notes for then forgot to mention on the show was this piece

in the New Yorker by Andrew Morantz, and this is a, it's entitled birth of a white supremacist. We can stick the link back in this one and it is a profile of our good buddy Mike Enoch here. Enoch at this point was still participating with journalists.

He stopped doing this at some point as his legal troubles got closer and closer to actually

causing him problems.

He increasingly no longer communicates with any kind of media.

But he used to basically talk to anybody and he would just try to troll them.

And so for instance with this Murant's piece, Murant speaks to Enoch for hours and hours. I think there's four to six hours of like conversations that they had in terms of kind of getting the background in terms of trying to

you know Marantz is doing his due diligence and trying to understand Enoch and you

Enoch recorded the calls and I mean with moreance's permission like this was like a

term of doing the interviews and doing the profile was that he said I have the right to release

these on on my show and so he took like little edited segments and then would play them on the show and then

would talk over them.

And because Andrew Morance is Jewish, it's pretty horrifying listening, a lot of it.

But the whole thing is like trying to mock Morants for, you know,

being beholden to the system or whatever. At one point, Marantz, you know, was talking on the phone with the United

and he says, oh, I'm having lunch.
