Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and

apply scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through

Friday as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome back to our daily Bible devotional study in the book of first Corinthians.

Today we are in chapter 5.

Paul addresses a serious issue within the Corinthian Church, the acceptance of blatant sexual immorality.

A man is involved in a sinful relationship with his stepmother, and the church's pride and attitude towards this sin is deeply

concerning. Paul reminds the Corinthians that such behavior is unacceptable and must be confronted.

He instructs them to remove the unrepentant individual from their fellowship, not out of malice,

but to encourage repentance and protect the church's purity.

Paul compares sin to Levin, warning that it spreads and corrupts the entire body.

He urges the church to live as unleavened bread, pure and holy in Christ.

Furthermore, Paul clarifies that he is not addressing unbelievers,

but instructs the church to hold fellow Christians accountable,

emphasizing the importance of upholding God's standard within the church.

We can't control what everybody in the world does.

They live by different standards.

They should live by Christ,

but Christians have all agreed to live by the Christian standard,

and we need to help each other.
