I have a guest, Vincent Rocco Vargas.

You may know him as Gilly from Mayans MC, an FX show that's part of the Sons of Anarchy

Universe, but I know him as my friend and baseball teammate at Monroe High School and Panorama City American Legion and we've kept in touch for the last 25 years.

But our lives went in very different directions.

Before he was an actor and a screenwriter, Vince was an Army Ranger and a federal agent.

We're talking boots on the ground in Iraq, real stuff.

We dive into some of those experiences and the PTSD that arose out of that and what he's doing now.

Not just to combat that for him, but to help other veterans.

And even though Vince is LA through and through, he lives in of all places, Utah.

With his wife and get this, eight children and no he's not Mormon. But he does commute back and forth to work here in LA every week,

so I had to find out about that lifestyle.

This is an extremely fascinating guy.

I also dig into the origin story of how he made the transition from military to famous actor.

He was very stern he had his rules and he you know we we had a very structured lifestyle on some would say he was a little strict all in all I mean he was a former gang member and my brother was getting involved in this the same stuff my father was I probably 10 times more attentive to me to say no you're going to play sports no matter what and then I played year round because if I wasn't playing

sports he was nervous he just it wasn't comfortable with me but your bro was a baseball player too

was remember was he was a baseball player but then you get to high school you start following different crowds and doing different things and he got into tagging and then he became a well-known kind of underground, you know, south side rapper, you know, and it got big to the point where they called
