Would you turn with me this evening to the book of 1st Corinthians, 1 Corinthians chapter 12?

We began a few weeks ago on this series called hungry for the Holy Spirit.

Somebody say hungry for the Holy Spirit.

What about those that hunger and thirst after the right things of God?

That's the ones that'll get filled up.

Said out loud, I'm hungry for the Holy Spirit.

In 1st Corinthians, the 12th chapter and the 31st, the last verse of the chapter,

31, said, covet earnestly the best gifts, and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

Covet earnestly the best gifts.

Skip on down to the 14th chapter in the first verse, 141.

He said, follow after charity or love and do what desire spiritual gifts but rather that you may prophesy skip down to the next to the last verse in that 14th chapter verse 39 1439 he said wherefore brethren covet somebody say covet covet to prophesy and forbid not to speak with tongues

do we see a recurring thing covet desire covet covet what the gifts of the spirit covet desire them now as

we've been talking about this it's obvious that so many folks come woefully short in this area.

People are not coveting these things.

They're not desiring them.

People are perfectly content without them.

Christians are perfectly content to live their whole life and never speak in tongues or prophesy or have an

interpretation or a word of knowledge or word of wisdom, et cetera, et cetera. In fact, many churches,

many churches where people are genuinely born again, they love the Lord, they died tonight,

they go straight to heaven, but they don't even

believe in the gifts of the Spirit. They believe it's all passed away, not for us anymore.

Well, they're certainly not coveting them, then are they? They don't even believe they're for us now.
