This week, we went down to El Paso, Texas to visit our friend Luis Chaparro.

He brought us into Ciudad Juarez, took us through the most dangerous neighborhood in one of the most dangerous cities in the world

to show us what was

really going on at the U.S.-Mexico border.

I think the Mexican institution of immigration is taking probably over 80% of all the

bribes and the money from migrants and leaving the rest to cartels, right?

Migrants worth only as much money as someone's going to pay for them.

That's when I see lights behind me start to flash. And I didn't even think, I just hit it. I was driving like my life depended on. Then I parked the car, popped out, closed the door, and I started running. And he pulls out a burner, shank. It's like six inches. And he passes it to me. And he goes, here, that's yours. Don't ever leave the cell block without this.

He was the reason I made it out of that place alive. Luis, you're basically a third arm of the show at this point. We're here, I don't know, sometimes in podcasting, you get a wild hair up your

ass. And I, you know, the migrant crisis, the poorest border.

It was the biggest story of the year until the attack on Israel on October 7th.
