Let's get into it today.

We're looking at Psalm chapter 5 today

and we talked a little bit yesterday about the tendency we have to

complain and whether or not it's okay to complain to God about the things that

are going on in your life. I mentioned yesterday that there are a

handful of Psalms that are referred to by theologians as Psalms of complaint,

where the writer is doing exactly that. They're complaining to God about the situation that they are in.

Psalm 5 begins kind of that way. It's not really so much complaining as kind of beseeching God or calling out to God for help in a situation.

This one is only about 10 verses long, so I'm going to read the whole thing. Actually, it's 12 verses. I'm going to read the whole thing actually it's 12 verses I'm going to read the whole thing and then go back and comment

says give ear to my words oh Lord consider my groaning

give attention to the sound of my cry my king and my God for to you do I pray

oh lord in the morning you hear my voice in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and

watch for you are not a god who delights in wickedness. Evil may not dwell with you.

The bolstful shall not stand before your eyes. You hate all evildoers.

You destroy those who speak lies, the Lordrs the bloodthirsty and deceitful man
