All right next I want to talk to about my next guest which is my good friend is it I think it's Mr

Von Hippel he is an incredible guy and he talks a lot about anthropology and towards the end of the episode he said

something interesting to me because he said Brian we all have these things that

we regret doing and we have these things that we do that later we regret.

So we regret not doing and we have the things that we regret doing.

And he says people think they're kind of the same thing.

So like today I could go outside and scream out loud that I'm going to do, I'm going to write a book in 24

hours and I'm going to publish it for everyone.

Now I might regret that, but the truth is that they found in studies over time is that I would regret it more if I went my whole life and never say tried to write that book.

So Jeff Bezos realized that about 20 years ago, he's currently the richest man in the world, a

hundred million dollars plus. He was working in Wall Street for a company

called D.E. Shaw and he said you know what I want to start my regret

minimization hypothesis.

If I don't take this thing called the internet

and try to build a business around it,

I will regret the rest of my life

that I didn't take the chance.

And so he packed all his stuff up,

drove out to Seattle, and decided to start Amazon.

That was him thinking intelligently that he would regret the decisions he didn't make more than regretting what he would do.

Now, he could have gone out there, spent a bunch of his money,

look stupid, and three years later have come back to Wall Street.
