Summary

Teaching kids about non-Christian worldviews is mission critical for giving them a deeper and richer understanding of their own faith. In this episode, I explain three key things kids should know about the nature of studying world religions before you even start discussing, and three “best practices” from my own experience for how to discuss the particulars of other religions.

Hey everyone it's Natasha Crane and you're listening to episode number two of my

0:10.6

podcast I want to just say thank you so much to the many of you who took the time to email me, send comments, private messages, leave reviews on Apple Podcast after my first episode. I cannot tell you how much that meant to me,

0:25.4

especially because, like I said at the end of that last episode, I'm totally new to this,

0:29.2

and it was a great encouragement to hear that you found a lot of value in that first

0:33.7

episode and it really made me excited to go on and do an episode number two so

0:38.3

thank you guys so much for taking the time to do that. Without further ado, so many of you said I loved how you just dove into the podcast last

0:46.0

time and we're going to keep doing that.

0:47.5

I want to jump right into today's topic and that is how do you teach your kids about non-Christian worldviews? I have actually seen

0:56.1

this subject come up a lot recently, interestingly, in Facebook groups that I'm in

1:00.4

and it's something that I'm loving doing as part of our home school

1:05.0

studies right now so I thought it would be a great second subject to cover here on

1:09.1

the podcast so here's what we're going to do I'm going to start by sharing some thoughts about why teaching

1:14.3

kids worldviews other than Christianity is so important. And then I'm going to share several of the

1:19.2

most important things I've learned about doing this based on my own experience with my kids who are

1:24.3

ages 12 and 10. So as a little bit of context for this my kids have been in a

1:29.9

private Christian school for several years until this year and then just this

1:34.8

fall we started homeschooling full-time. Now interestingly that was a decision that we

1:39.3

made before the whole pandemic thing set in so this wasn't a COVID homeschooling thing it just kind of dovetailed with that it was something that we were already

1:47.5

excited about doing as part of that homeschool I created a subject called Blah so B L A W and that stands for Bible

1:58.0

logic apologetics and worldview and just generally speaking how we do this is that on Mondays we do our

2:05.2

Bible subject on Tuesdays we do the logic Wednesdays is all about

2:09.4

apologetics and Thursdays are about worldview.
