0:00.0 | Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor Podcast. I'm your host Rob Dyle and if you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so you never miss another podcast episode. |
0:17.0 | If you're out there and you have not given us a reading review on iTunes or Apple Podcasts, please take your phone out 30 seconds. Give us a rating review on Apple Podcast. It helps us be found organically. So if you give us a good review and other people give us good reviews, iTunes and Apple Podcasts are going, hey, we should show this to more people. And then the podcast continues to grow. So please spread the love and please give us a rating review. Oh, greatly, greatly appreciate it. Today we're going to be talking about that fun thing that everybody loves, that thing called worry. Right? |
0:46.0 | You love worry. You know when you're sitting around and you're like, God, I'm so I had so much fun worrying all day long. Right? No, that doesn't happen. You're like, oh man, this worry. It stresses me out. It makes me anxious. Makes me not feel good. No, it doesn't do it. That you love you. Come on. We love worrying. Don't we? It's just so fun. And then we sit and we wake up the next day and we're like, man, I'm so glad that I spent all of yesterday worrying. Right? No. Of course not. |
1:15.0 | And the crazy part about it is this is that there was a study that was done by psychologists and they went through all of the worries that people have and they studied them for a few months and they found out that around 85% of what people worry about never even actually happens. 85% of what we worry about never even happens. How wild is that? |
1:37.0 | Think about how much time, how much energy, how much mental capacity is used just for worrying. And then 85% of that never even actually happens. So today we're going to be talking about worry and we're going to talk about how to replace your worry with something else that's much, much more productive. |
1:57.0 | We're going to talk about how to replace your worrying with action, how to replace your worrying with actually taking action. Today we're going to talk about the worry and we're going to think about all of the amazing things that worry is done for us and nothing. |
2:13.0 | And then what we're going to do is we're going to talk about taking action because here's the thing. Here's what I want you to start thinking about. |
2:19.0 | The first thing I want you to understand is this we as humans every human myself included all of us we need to become more self aware. |
2:27.0 | We need to become more self aware so that when we start to feel a certain way if we start to notice a change in our internal state, we say, okay, what am I feeling right now? I feel really worried. |
2:39.0 | Okay, what am I feeling worried about? And then what we do is instead of sitting around and worrying, we decide to figure out some sort of way to take action. |
2:47.0 | And I'm going to talk about how to do that and how to identify that throughout this because here's the thing. |
2:53.0 | Worrying tends to die down when we're making progress towards our goals towards some destination, even if it's just checking off some things from the to do list. |
3:03.0 | Because the majority of time when we're worrying, we're not actually doing anything. We're usually just sitting around doing nothing and worry dies when progress is made. |
3:13.0 | Let me say that again, your worry will start to die when progress is made. |
3:18.0 | So I'll give you an example. Let's say that your sales rep and you need to make $1,000 this week so that you can pay your rent. |
3:26.0 | And you sit around and you're like, oh my gosh, we're getting towards I have one week left before the end of the month. |
3:32.0 | And I'm looking at this and I don't know if I'm going to make this $1,000 because I don't know if I'm going to pay my rent and you start to worry about how you're going to pay your bills. |
3:41.0 | Oh my gosh, what if I get on these phone calls and people start to say no to me? |
3:47.0 | People don't answer the phone and you start to worry about all of the things that might happen. |
3:53.0 | All of the bad things that might happen, right? |
3:56.0 | What good does that actually do? |
3:58.0 | What good does that do by worrying about what might happen? |
