Welcome to Coach Bennett's podcast, where every run has a purpose, where kindness is

0:16.8

hardcore, where this is about running, and this is not about running, where every starting

0:22.6

line is a finish line in disguise, where rambling still gets you where you need to be, where

0:28.6

pineapple will never ruin your pizza, and the sodas, adult and not adult kind are always cold,

0:35.5

and where there is room on the starting line for everybody.

I'm Coach Bennett. Thank you for letting me be a part of your day. Let's get started.

Welcome to episode 90, that's right, 90 of Coach Bennett's podcast. This one is entitled either

0:53.3

how to run better when it's cold outside or how to have

0:56.9

better cold weather runs or something like that. It doesn't matter. You know what I'm talking about.

1:02.2

And by the time you're listening to this, the title has already been said. So whatever. We're

1:09.3

moving on. We're getting right into it this time. You want to know why?

1:12.9

There is no reason why. It's just because it's the right thing to do. And it's wintertime. And even if

1:17.9

it's not wintertime where you're at, guess what? It's good to be prepared for wintertime.

1:22.3

If you can anticipate some of these things that are going to come up, odds are you're going to be better able to handle them when they come up. How cool is that? The answer is super cool, coach, super cool. So let's start. Let's start at the starting line, all right? We're going to, don't worry. We're going to go back actually in time, so to speak, and actually talk about what you should do prior to the starting line. But for now, let's just start at the starting line. And let's just talk about what direction you're running. All right. I know. It sounds like, why are we starting with that? I'll tell you why we're starting with that. Great question. It's because of the wind. And it's the wind that I'm concerned about right now because that's what

2:01.4

we're going to talk about. If it's windy, you need to start your run on a cold, cold day

2:08.0

into the wind. Now, I already hear people moaning, come on. Seriously, it's hard enough to do a run

2:15.4

in cold weather, much less start a run in cold weather into the

2:20.2

wind. What am I trying to do to you? I'm trying to make sure you have a better run. Look back at the

2:25.2

title of this run. That's what this is all about. It's you having better runs when it's cold outside.

2:31.1

And I'm telling you this on a windy day, what you want to do is start

2:35.7

into the wind. Now, let's break down why. Wind chill, baby. That's right. Wind chill. If you had a

2:44.2

bingo card, you know, and you're trying to figure out when is he going to say wind chill,
