Picture this.

You're out of the woods, it's dark and rainy.

You've just hiked 15 miles carrying a heavy backpack full of supplies.

You've got blisters on your feet from passing through a river, a cut on your hand from

scaling rocks, and a headache from dehydration.

You're exhausted and you're hungry.

So what are you going to eat?

Get a break out that camp stove in the skillet, maybe make a hot belly warming bowl of chili?

If you're a member of the US military, it's likely not that.

You're probably eating an M-R-E.

M-R-E stands for meal ready to eat.

M-R-E's usually coming in 8 by 6 inch brown pouch.

In each pouch you'll find an entree, a side dish, a dessert, a cracker, a powder drink,

assorted seasonings, and a flameless ration heater that warms up the food right inside the

pouch.

If you ask any member of the US military, they'll admit M-R-E's aren't exactly high-end

cuisine.

They're not too bad, some are better than others.
