What's up everyone? Welcome back to the Epic Gardening Podcast. Today we're discussing a topic that a lot of people have asked me about.

It is growing carrots, but specifically growing carrots in containers.

Because they are a tap rooted vegetable,

it's something that a lot of people want to do,

but they're not quite sure how to do it,

given the fact that what we're harvesting

is what's growing underneath the soil and containers

constrain the amount of soil that you have. So how do you make sure that you grow

carrots in containers in a way that actually grows a carrot that you want to eat, right?

So that's what we're talking about today.

Now, the number one rule of growing carrots and containers

is, of course, to very specifically

select the right carrot variety for the depth of the container that you have.

Now there's far too many varieties to go over in a simple podcast episode like this but

for example if you have a Nantes style carrot

like Scarlet Nantes that's going to be maybe a six to nine inch

root thus you need to have at least a six to nine inch

container to grow it preferably more I would say

about a foot is going to be a good idea there. If you're growing carrots and

containers that are shallower than 12 inches like perhaps those little planter boxes that are six inches deep, you want to choose

a miniature carrot variety. You can grow one that's like a Parisian style that kind of grows as a
