All right, way back in November 2021, when this show was just getting off the ground,

we did an episode with Sam Parsons, who is a professional runner and co-founder of the Tin Man Elite

team that's based in Boulder, Colorado.

With rare exceptions, like the Coconino Cowboys, at the time, I was surprised that we had not

yet seen the formation and the

widespread existence of a truly professionalized, co-located team in the trail running world. So I reached

out to Sam. He gave me about an hour, and I tried to fit in as many questions as I could about how

they operate, what's worked, what hasn't, et cetera, et cetera, what it would take to create something similar in our community.

And I've never done an episode rerun before, but I'm doing it now for three reasons.

A, it's been over two years, and I feel that we're still in a similar position as we were in

2021.

B, this show had about 50 listeners when the original

episode aired, so there was little to no reach for what I feel is an important message

from Sam. And C, I actually reached out to Sam earlier today to see if we could record a part

two later this month. So this episode, I I figured would cue that up nicely as well.

One last thing I'll say, I am well aware of the unique challenges that our sport presents

for this idea to work, but I am still convinced it's a good idea. And it's kind of like the new

year right now. People are thinking about resolutions. People are thinking about new opportunities, making changes. And I hope that in the coming months and years, a band of

motivated people run with this idea and make something happen. So to that end, take this as a call to

So I think it's fair to spend roughly five to ten minutes just glossing over the beginnings

of Tin Man Elite and how it got started, the purpose, where it's at now, stuff like that.
