0:13.0	Today we're beginning our series on the Gospel of Luke.
0:17.0	For a long time in my Christian life if you would have asked me who wrote most of the New Testament, I would have looked at you like you
0:25.1	were a fool, because the answer is obvious, isn't it?
0:28.3	It's the apostle Paul.
0:29.3	I mean, think of all the letters Romans 1st and 2nd Corinthians
0:33.0	Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, colossians and more and more it goes.
0:37.8	I was pretty shocked when I learned that that was the incorrect answer that
0:42.1	the answer that seemed obvious to me turned out to be obviously wrong.
0:46.2	The person who wrote most of the New Testament was Luke.
0:50.1	So the Gospel of Luke and then the book of acts combined to make the most written material in the
0:56.6	New Testament by any one author, quite a bit more than the Apostle Paul. So Luke is a person that has a huge influence on the
1:06.6	New Testament and on our faith but he's someone that we don't know a lot about.
1:11.2	One thing we do know about him is that he was associated with the
1:15.0	apostle Paul. So Luke wasn't one of the first followers of Jesus, not one of the
1:19.6	earliest disciples, probably never saw Jesus before he was crucified and yet he was a traveling
1:26.0	companion to the apostle of Paul we learn in collachshans 414 that he was a physician
1:31.2	and we see his name pop up as part of Paul's missionary band a few other times in the New Testament.
1:38.0	So it's kind of interesting that Luke is associated with Paul and yet the attention goes to Paul and not to Luke, not to the
1:47.2	Gospels.
