Hard times have always existed for some people, and always will.

But what makes for hard times? You are meant to latitude.

Hard times in this country are more often an imaginary condition of mind than an actual fact. It's a condition that causes people to live on

the dark side, borrow trouble, and become disgruntled. Yes, sometimes a person is very poor and has a right

to grumble and find fault. There are people with whom the world has dealt a very difficult

hand, and yet the poor don't cry hard times, any more than those who are well to do.

In fact, they often talk about it less, for they seem to instinctively know that talking

hard times makes you stingy.

It narrows you down until you don't feel right toward yourself, as well as to your family

and friends. It's people who have money and want to keep it who talk hard times.

Yet it is an entirely unnecessary complaint,

for it isn't what you earn, but what you save that determines your stability.

It's when you feel you ought to spend but don't, that you

offer the excuse hard times. Talking poverty is like taking a viper into one's bosom. It poisons

your system. You finally are led to believe that you are actually poor, that the world is against you,
