It is Thursday, April 24th.

It's April, which seems like an odd time to be doing an episode about the Oscars,

but there was some pretty big news recently, and not just that the Academy members are going to be required to actually watch the movies before they vote.

We've got a new Oscar category, too, actually.

There's achievement in casting, which will be in place for next year's show, the first new category in 25 years.

And even more interesting to me anyways, is that starting for the 2028 show, the Academy will honor achievement in stunt design.

Yes, it's an Oscar for stunt coordinators.

It seems like a natural fit.

Stunt people are members of the production and technology branch of the

Academy, so why not honor what has always been such a big part of big movies? But I also had lots

of questions about this when I saw the news. Like, how do you judge which stunts are the best? What if

there's CGI in use, as is often the case these days? Or even AI, Does a stunt designer get extra credit if a star like

Tom Cruise does the stunt himself, or maybe less credit? But there's one guy with the answers to this,
