This brings us to colonial America, where there are all sorts of different currency in issue.

Some people are using English shillings.

Other people are printing off promissory notes as if they were currency, as we saw in the examples earlier in the discussion. It's all pegged to the Spanish piece of eight, though.

So broadly speaking in colonial America, what did the currency market look like? It sounds like a

Dubai airport with a bunch of money traders all around.

Yeah. You know, it's actually, we say it must have been chaotic because it feels chaotic to us, but it made sense to them.
