Hello and welcome to the Not the Martin Lewis podcast, which rather confusingly is an offshoot of my normal The Martin Lewis podcast.

Well, there are some subjects that are outside my wheelhouse or I can't answer questions on due to regulations.

So in this podcast, I'm joined by specialists,

and I'm asking, not answering the questions.

Well, it's me. I might chip in with the odd note or two.

Today's podcast is all about your tax questions,

income tax, capital gains tax, national insurance, and lots more,

including who has to do a tax return and how do you avoid it? Do you pay tax on

selling cryptocurrency? How tax codes work and why you need to know. Frankly, it's your

responsibility, not your employers. If it's wrong, it'll be you who pays. Are there tax breaks

available if you're married? Spoiler alert, yes. And the little known starting rate of tax

for savings. No, it's not the you can earn £1,000 a year. Most people know about. There's another one too.

So much to talk about. Let's play the theme tune.

about taxes and I'm delighted to be joined by Carrie Mellon, Chartered Tax Advisor at Opez Tax

and Rebecca Beneworth from Rebecca Beneworth and co, former head of the tax faculty at the Institute

of Chartered Accountants and a bit of a guru in the industry as I learnt when I had you on my TV

show and everyone said, oh, you're so lucky to have Rebecca on your show. So I'm clearly not

worthy and I'm delighted to have you back here onto the podcast to talk all things tax.
