I've been reading a book.

I spent some time on Friday with the author of a book called

The Nazi Mind 12 warnings from history. The author Lawrence Reese is at this moment part of the

delegation visiting Auschwitz. And it's, I mean, haunting isn't quite the right word, but it is,

you know when a book just reaches part that other books cannot reach, it's an extraordinary treatise. And I'll play you quite a long

interview with Lawrence Reese at some point this morning as we mark Holocaust Memorial Day

in whatever ways we can. Struck already, as I mentioned a moment ago, by the fact that I am

pretty much the right age and early retirement beckoning, but not just yet. I will probably

be on air on the first Holocaust Memorial Day when there are no Holocaust survivors with us anymore.

And I don't know why that has struck me with such strength this morning.

I really don't.
